This the Montreal Chateau Champlain, affectionately known as the "Cheese Grater" for obvious reasons. Just returned from a two-night stay and it was fantastic. So many choices in downtown Montreal, but this one really feels like a high-end property. Quick highlights: Location: practically on top of the Bonaventure subway station, which makes it easy to get from YUL (especially if you use the 747 express bus - $11 CAD and the card is active all day, which means you can do bus AND train); it's also right next door to the hockey arena if it's during the season M Club: well-stocked, large, and never felt crowded. Snack options in the afternoon always had a local flair and super tasty Gym: huge, and lots of decent equipment. Again, never felt crowded Staff: incredibly friendly, engaging, helpful, and always smiling. I'd like to call out Eduardo at the front desk for his exceptionally friendly personality and engagement, making me feel at home, and absolutely welcomed. But also the bellman, Mamadou. This guy greeted me every time I came back to the hotel with a nice greeting, a quick word, and a broad smile. He's one of the nicest and warmest individuals I've met at a hotel, and he's skillfully placed as one of the first things you experience when you set foot on this property. Rooms: clean and well-equipped; ask for a park view if you're able. It's amazing. And you saw the toilet picture. I've never felt compelled to include a pic of the throne in a review, but this one deserved it, trust me Cost: my conference was at the Fairmont, which was only two blocks away, but twice as expensive. It was well worth the walk, even in the rain, to stay here instead. Highly recommend this hotel if you're looking for options in Montreal, and there are a ton of Marriott's in the area.

Moderate expectations blown away by the great rooms,service, location, and amenities. Would 100% stay here again. Hard Product: Clean and airy rooms, great views of both the city and Mont Royal, supremely comfortable bed and modern bathrooms. Most hotels in N. America show their age and the refurbishment really helped, chargers on both nightstands, different lights, bidet toilet if you're into that. Gym is amazing for a hotel with all the machines, Smith rack, stretching area, and dumbells up to 100+ pounds. Service: Friendly service from almost every single staff (only the cab attendant was cold but we always called ubers), everyone is bilingual French/English and willing to help. Location: right above Bonaventure metro station so you don't need to walk outside if it's pouring rain (which happened on our 2nd day), walking distance to the Ring and Vieux Montreal. -Current Marriott Platinum, former ambassador

Friendly staff and one of the best hotel showers. The room was super comfortable, the in room Nespresso machine was convenient and I've never stayed someplace so well sound proofed. It was glorious never hearing another guest the whole stay.

The absolute best time in Montreal! We only had 3 days. But in that time we packed in sightseeing, food tours, the Aura light show and a Hockey game!! Ian - the concierge was marvelous with his recommendations for sights, shopping and dining. He even hooked us up with the hockey tickets a few hours before game time. He made our trip magical! The river view room was spacious and quiet and comfy. And I can’t say enough about the location of this Marriott. Overall the best trip ever!!
